Skidmarks. No, Not in the Driveway.
Yesterday we went to Chris's great-uncle's funeral. His name was David Edward Thompson, aged 92. (Chris's Grandpa's brother; his Mother's uncle). Chris's Grandpa, "Papa" as we call him, is down east visiting Auntie Bev and going to Samantha's wedding this weekend. He was ready to fly home for the funeral, but it would have been hard on him to travel that much. The funeral was small and sweet. It was a beautiful summer day for the interment at the cemetery. We went for the luncheon afterward and visited some of Chris's family that we seldom see.
After the funeral we got stuff ready and went to Blue Lake to visit Auntie Lurdes & Uncle Cliff, Roberta, Derek, Mallary & Graeme (my Godson). We had a fun visit and managed to preoccupy Carter enough that he didn't mention swimming more than once or twice. We had already eaten, but we snacked on Mom & Dad's steak (oh yeah, my parents were there visiting too!) and Auntie Lurdes had made chili. They were showing a movie about turtles at the amphitheatre and Derek took the kids down there. Roberta and Chris went to rescue him. I put Cooper in the snugli and walked down there. After the movie we packed up our stuff and headed home. I just couldn't find it in me to blog last night.
Today was shitty, in more ways than one. Pardon the language but I'm serious...you'll see! The day started early, with both Cooper and Carter. I was tired but managed to try to be a cool mom and entertain them both while I attempted to switch bedrooms. Up until today, Carter had his own room and Cooper bunked in with us with his crib in our room. I decided we would trade with Carter, and he and Cooper could share our room because it's the bigger of the two bedrooms.
So I stripped all the beds involved and washed the sheets and blankets. I moved Carter's toddler bed out of the way, moved the big heavy TV stand out of the room (had to disconnect the TV, DVD player and stereo and unscrew all the brackets that Chris had attached to keep it from falling over and squashing someone), dragged that big sucker into the kitchen, and washed the walls and vacuumed. I moved our queen-size bed into Carter's room after I dusted the frame (it's almost wall-to-wall bed in there, with just enough room for a nightstand on each side). Aside from the bed and nightstands, there is room for a standing lamp and a dresser, as soon as I sort out the clothing and closet situation in both rooms.
I vacuumed our former bedroom and put in Carter's bed. I brought a smaller TV stand up from the basement and hooked up the TV, DVD player and a VCR. We were given a bunch of VHS movies about dinosaurs (Land Before Time series) and Carter's been itching to watch them but we didn't have a working VCR (even though there were two in the house). Cindy had one in her garage sale a few weeks ago that she gave us so I finally hooked it up. Then I was faced with all the junk. There are still clothes everywhere and stuff. Mountains and mountains of stuff.
After I washed all the bedding, I thought it would be a nice idea to hang it all out on the clothesline, which I have maybe used once since we got our dryer. I checked on it a couple times and it was just a little damp, almost ready to bring in. I worked on a couple other items, but was anxious to get the beds made. As I was looking outside at the torrential downpour, my Dad called and I said wow is it ever raining here. Shit! I have stuff on the clothesline! So I had a rain delay in the bed making department. It got nice out again (briefly) and then poured again. I gave up on the clothesline, and brought in the bedding to put it in the dryer. It was wetter than it would have been coming out of the washer. Needless to say it took a long time to dry.
I fed Cooper some blueberries for lunch. As I took a break and had a chat with Angie, up came a little bit of blueberries on my arm and Cooper's shirt. Now I had to bathe him. Another delay. I threw both boys in the tub, as Carter's feet were black from the dirt at Blue Lake last night. He was asleep when we got home last night so there was no way I was waking him up to wash his feet at the time. So I bathed the boys.
At some point, Carter started to have a poop. His poops are a long agonizing process. He hates wearing pull-ups now, so he was in his 'big-boy gotchies'. He proceeded to strip off his poopy pants and throw them in his former bedroom closet. He entered the living room naked sticking toilet paper up his butt. Ugh. Thinking back this was pretty cute and funny. I helped him get cleaned up and asked where the gotchies were. Luckily (as far as I know) it was just a 'fart-stain' as I so affectionately call it, and there were no turds strewn about when he flung his undies.
I got him all cleaned up and into a new pair of gotchies. A while later, I had just gotten Cooper to fall asleep and was at the computer talking to Angie. Carter walked in the room and thrust a second poopy pair of gotchies in my face. Nice. Unfortunately I hadn't realized we were out of pull-ups, so I cleaned him up again and put him in one of Cooper's diapers. It was kind of funny but diapers are easier to throw out than gotchies are to clean!
Mom stopped by for a visit and was sweet and helped me with Cooper and Carter so I could put some more junk away. After she left I finally managed to get the beds made since the bedding was dry at last. Chris came home from work and I informed him he was cooking. This means he was the one to go pick up some food somewhere. McDonald's was the quickest, most painless option for him, so that was it. Carter was napping, and I actually slept about 20 minutes or so somewhere in there before Chris came home. I had 2 Big Macs (didn't eat much today) and fries. Carter woke up and had his happy meal. I tried to feed Cooper vegetables and beef from the baby food jar, but that wasn't a big hit. Neither were the green beans. I guess he wasn't very hungry.
After supper I got a few more things put away, emptied and filled and ran the dishwasher. I really had to do a Wal-Mart run at least for some pull-ups, so I went (by myself!). A hundred bucks and about 45 minutes later, i came home with pull-ups, sandals for Cooper that were on sale for three bucks, 4 boxes of those Minute Maid frozen lemonade thingies that were on sale for a dollar per box, bread, new bedsheets for my 'new bedroom' and baby food. I came home and Chris had Carter sitting on the toilet trying to get him to poop because there were no more pull-ups! He still wasn't done pooping and he had somehow managed to smear a little here and there on his body. I tried not to laugh because it seemed Chris was at his wit's end. I took Cooper off his hands and he bathed Carter (for the second time today!)
Once things started to wind down around here, I did this scrapbooking layout. What a nice way to wind down from the day. I also managed somehow to get 20 gift certificates printed out throughout the day too. Here is the layout. Christy made a new word art set called "Expressions of Faith" with scripture quotations on them. I chose this one to go along with a picture from Cooper's baptism. The kit I used is her new "Ethereal" kit and the font I used is called Thanksgiving. My day is done. I am going to bed in my new bedroom.
::Sigh:: Just as I finished my blog post Cooper woke up. I changed his diaper but before I got the new one in place, he decided to pee on me. Then I remembered two more things and I keep editing this post. I attempted my first ad/art layout for the new challenge at BSD. Following that is something I copied from Christy's blog...
We’re so quick to point fingers, place blame and criticize the people in our lives. It’s easier to point out a fault than it is to praise a strength. It’s easier to mention something that needs to be done better than it is to acknowledge something that’s been done well.
Therefore, I christen today (and the next few days) “Bloggin’ Good Blogger Days” in the blogging community. Your mission, shall you choose to accept it (and you will), is to go to as many blogs as you can and point out at least one good thing about the author of that blog. Do your best to give them a warm fuzzy feeling. Show your appreciation, admiration or plain old joy.
Tell them why something they did touched you, why a choice they made shows the true fabric of their moral being. Just go BE NICE to every blogger who’s blog you read today. And don’t be shy, either!!
Plus, post an entry similar to this one on YOUR blog and ask people to leave warm fuzzies in your comments. Spread the love, people!
Maybe if we take a week to engage in warm fuzzies, they will become a more permanent part of our daily lives, both on and off the computer.
In review:
1. Leave me a warm fuzzy in my comments.
2. Post a similar entry (or copy and paste this one, giving credit) on your own blog.
3. Leave a warm fuzzy on every blog you visit today.
4. Sit back, read your own warm fuzzies and feel, well, warm and fuzzy!

Okay, ONE more thing I meant to do today...Christy had this on her blog today, so I'm going to participate too. I did a direct cut and paste from her blog so here goes:
Christy got this wonderful email from PajamaMama with the idea of starting the "Bloggin' Good Blogger Days", so I wanted to participate. Here's what she says:

LOL! There's a reason I love to come here and read your blogs. You can make poopy accidents, and the typical baby peed on me again seem funny. I've been there too so I guess that's what makes it so funny. Remembering this morning and mom I had an accident, or trying to change the daiper quick before the whole room got hosed. LOL! Thanks for your feed back on my blog. Or should I say the warm fuzzies. I'm thinking this would be something good to do too. (((HUGS)))
Girl, Vicky's right. . .you are da BOMB.
We made it through the night - barely. E was up until 5 a.m. Mark sent me to bed at 3. I was up at 4 - E was screaming with the heaves throughout the house.
He's sipping gingerale - and says "thanks" for the well-wishes last night.
Hopefully, we'll get a chance to talk - but even if we don't, you know, don't you, that your blog is at the top of my list--both figuratively and literally.
Thanks for getting me through a couple of rough patches. . .hopefully Friday will be a better day all around - on my side of the continent and on yours, too!
Love you, girl!
